What Is Emface and How Does It Work?
By Teresa Alasio, MD | Intentional Self Aesthetics, New Canaan, CT
Emface is a non-invasive facial treatment that works on two levels simultaneously, something no other technology currently does.
Most facial treatments address either the skin or the underlying structure, but not both at once. Emface combines two energies in a single hands-free applicator:
Radiofrequency (RF) energy heats the dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin production, tightening and remodeling the skin from within.
HIFES (High Intensity Facial Electromagnetic Stimulation) targets the facial muscles directly, causing supramaximal contractions that strengthen and tone muscles that have weakened and descended with age. Think of it as a workout for your facial muscles, one that produces results no amount of facial exercise could achieve on its own.
The combination means Emface lifts from two directions at once: tighter skin above, stronger muscles below. The result is a more lifted, defined, naturally youthful appearance that reflects how your face actually looked when it was younger, rather than a filled or frozen version of it.
A standard Emface protocol involves four to six sessions spaced about a week apart, with results continuing to build over the following three to six months as collagen remodels and muscles strengthen. There is no downtime, no needles, and no recovery. Most patients describe the sensation as a warming feeling combined with a gentle muscle contraction.
Emface is an excellent option for patients who want a natural-looking lift without injectables, or as a complement to a broader treatment plan that may include fillers or biostimulators.
