How Many Scarlet RF Microneedling Sessions Do I Need?
By Teresa Alasio, MD | Intentional Self Aesthetics, New Canaan, CT
The number of Scarlet RF microneedling sessions you need depends on what you are treating and the current condition of your skin, but here is a general framework.
For most patients addressing skin laxity, fine lines, texture, pore size, or overall skin quality, a series of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart is the standard starting protocol. This allows the collagen remodeling process, which takes time, to build progressively with each treatment, with results continuing to develop for several months after the final session.
For patients with more significant concerns, including deeper lines, acne scarring, or more pronounced laxity, four to six sessions may be recommended, again spaced appropriately to allow healing and collagen production between treatments.
Maintenance sessions once or twice a year are typically recommended after an initial series to sustain and build on results over time, as collagen production naturally continues to decline with age.
What determines your specific protocol is an assessment of your skin at your consultation. I evaluate skin thickness, degree of laxity, texture concerns, and your history with previous treatments before recommending a session number. I will give you a realistic picture of what to expect from each session and what the cumulative result of the full series is likely to look like.
Scarlet RF is one of our most versatile and effective skin tightening and resurfacing tools, and it works particularly well as part of a layered treatment plan that may include other modalities depending on your goals.
