How Do I Prepare for My Medspa Appointment?
By Teresa Alasio, MD | Intentional Self Aesthetics, New Canaan, CT
Preparation depends on the treatment you’re having, and my team will give you specific pre-treatment instructions when you book. That said, here are the general guidelines that apply to most appointments at Intentional Self Aesthetics:
For injectable treatments (Botox, fillers, PRF): Avoid blood thinners for at least a week before your appointment if possible and if medically appropriate. This includes aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and alcohol. These increase the risk of bruising. Stay well hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment. Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup.
For energy-based treatments (Emface, RF Microneedling, BBL, Halo): Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for at least two weeks before treatment. Come with clean, product-free skin. Let us know about any recent sun exposure, skin irritation, or active breakouts.
For HydraFacial and chemical peels: Avoid retinoids and exfoliating acids for several days before your peel, as directed. Do not wax or use depilatory creams on the treatment area within a week of your appointment.
For all appointments: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your visit. Let us know about any new medications, supplements, or health changes since your last appointment. And if you have questions about anything specific to your treatment, call or message us. We would rather answer your question ahead of time than have you arrive uncertain.
Have questions about your specific upcoming treatment? Contact us directly or request a consultation and we’ll walk you through everything.
